How do I prepare my speech?
When you join, the Vice-president Education will assign you a Mentor to guide you through the process. Also, all members are friendly and willing to help you in the process. In addition to this, Toastmasters International will send you 5 booklets that assists you in your speech preparation. The booklets contain distilled, crysal-clear and priceless information on speechcrafting, coming out of 86 years of Toastmasters’ existence in developing public speaking skills of millions. As you progress, the speech crafting gets more interesting, with attention brought into the finer aspects of speeches and prepare you to speak and communicate with impact! After every speech you deliver, an evaluator will provide you constructive feedback on what you did well and highlight potential areas of improvement. The evaluator will be an experienced Toastmaster, who is willing to share information and lessons learnt. This helps you to be better prepared for your next speech. Overall, you will be able to improve your communications skills, with no stress or fear of failure.
How do I develop leadership skills?
Apart for developing our communication skills, the club provides an avenue for members to develop their leadership skills based on a self-paced approach. The details of the leadership track are provided in the Competent Leadership manual that will be provided to you. In General, you can improve your leadership skills, by participating in club meetings (appointment holder), organising meetings, organising contests, marketing campaigns and ofcourse, by volunteering to be part of the Executive Committee, who is in charge of running the club every term. The opportunities for self-development are plenty - they are waiting to be seized.
